Knitiffi

How fab are these? This inspired yarn bombing of the Cary Grant and John Cabot statues in Bristol was done by Knittifi, a covert group of local knit artists. With their quirky refashioning of these and several other iconic statues around the city, they aim “to make our world a happier, brighter place.”

Knitiffi have many members, including staff and service users of the Milestones Trust, who help people with learning difficulties, mental health problems and dementia live fulfilling and empowered lives in the community. This weekend, Milestones Trust are holding a Festival of Creativity at Paintworks in Bristol, which will feature animation, photography, sculpture, textiles, songs and stories, as well as a Knitiffi museum featuring a retrospective of their work, a knitted chill out area, and opportunities to try Giant and French knitting. You can even try on Cary’s pyjamas!

The Festival of Creativity exhibition is open from 10am-6.30pm up to and including this Sunday, 22nd April 2012. You can find directions to Paintworks here.
